Alcoholics Anonymous & Al-Anon
Al Anon meets Friday evenings in the lower level classrooms of the Parish Center at St. Joan of Arc. An AA meeting for women meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the Religious Ed Conference room. These meetings are for support to all those who deal with the problems of alcohol.
Blanket Buddies Once a year, in September, parishioners provide hand made and store bought quilts (either knit, crotchet, or new) to be distributed to infants, babies, or children by various agencies.
Christian Family Movement
Christian Family Movement (CFM) is a nationwide organization, with family themes and social concerns as its foundation. The mission of CFM is to enrich family life by creating a framework that families use to support each other, and to promote Christian attitudes, values and actions. Adults meet regularly guided by a CFM book and the dynamics of group interaction. CFM is for all families, young, empty-nesters, single parents, newly married, all who believe in the importance of Christian family.
CYO Basketball and Track
These teams are open to all local youth within our parish boundaries. Sign-ups are taken in the Summer for basketball and in the Spring for track. Watch the bulletin for dates and times. Early Timers Singles, couples, widows, etc, 55 years and over meet for a Potluck Dinner on the 2nd Friday of each month in the Parish Center. Their main purpose is fellowship and encouragement in times of need. New members are always welcome to join them.
Food for Friends
Held on the 4th Sunday of each month, this food drive allows you to donate needed food items to be distributed through several area agencies. Prior to the collection, special needs are noted in the bulletin. Nonperishable foods, dry and canned are always needed. On the 4th Sunday after the 9:00 am Mass you are welcome to join parishioners in the sorting of the food. No need to call just come if you are able.
Giving Tree Once a year gifts are donated to various organizations to help needy families have a joyful Christmas. Parishioners pick an ornament off the wooden trees located in the vestibule of the church. These ornaments describe the need of an individual. The gifts are placed on the altar a couple of weeks before Christmas so that they can be sorted and distributed.
Grief Ministry When the parish office is told that a parishioner has lost a loved one, that family is contacted by a member of the Grief Ministry team. The Grief Minister offers condolences on behalf of the parish and the Ministry team, counseling and group support. The Bereavement Ministry team offers a seven week Bereavement Workshop twice each year for those who are grieving the death of a loved one.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Couples from the parish, from their own age group, meet in each other's homes for Potluck Dinners. The purpose is to get acquainted in a more relaxed environment. Groups are rearranged every year. Call the office for more information.
Helping Hands Committee
This committee assists families in times of sorrow with the death of a family member. The committee provides assistance with receptions following a funeral. They will help with set up, greeting guests and on occasion coffee and cookies. Anyone wishing to assist in this program may call to have their name placed on our committee list.
Hospital Ministry
We are an active group of parishioners who deliver communion and provide prayer support to hospitalized patients at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. This service is provided 365 days a year.
If you are interested in being a part of our group you must be a registered member of St. Joan of Arc to participate in this ministry and at least 18 years of age. Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is involved with your community; it is supporting St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life. The KOC Council at St Joan's meets once a month and participates in various service efforts, social gatherings and fund raising events with the proceeds directed to supporting; Seminarians , mentally disabled persons, education for economically disadvantaged youth, and shelters.

Loaves and Fishes
Members of the parish prepare and serve a hot meal Monday through Friday at three locations in Contra Costa County (Bay Point, Concord, and Martinez). New workers are always welcome to cook and serve. Volunteers are needed from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. If interested please leave a message at the Parish Office for Hal Cody.
Prison Ministry
Members of the parish are involved in supporting and presenting the Kairos Weekend inside area prisons and to families outside the prison. In addition to our prayers, they periodically ask for our help in providing homemade cookies. Watch the bulletin for current needs and updated information.
Social Concerns Committee
The Social Concerns Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Parish Center Conference Room. The Committee members are committed to educating themselves and the parish on Catholic social teachings and how these teachings apply to include: support for affordable housing issues and for habitat for Humanity's current building site in West Contra Costa County; global solidarity with emphasis on financial assistance for victims of African famine; providing social justice resource materials for parishioners; and leadership development for those interested in community service.
St. Mary's Dinner
Four different times a year, members of the parish serve a hot meal on Sunday afternoon in Oakland for the Senior Citizens of St. Mary's Parish. Posters are available ahead of time in the lobbies to sign-up for providing the food or serving the meal.
St. Vincent de Paul The St. Joan of Arc Conference helps in caring for the physical needs of those in financial crisis within the parish and in the larger community. The society always welcomes new members who would join in their mission to alleviate human suffering through personal contact and involvement.
Tiny Treasures
This play group meets every Thursday morning in Classroom two and three. It allows Moms and children to meet new friends and have fun together. A calendar is in the bulletin weekly.
