NCYC is the National Catholic Youth Conference, a gathering of almost 25,000 Catholic teens from all over the country. It happens once every two years, and this year is November 21-23 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
St. Joan of Arc will be taking a group of about 10-15 SALT teens, plus chaperones (plus a couple of teens from St. Isidore) to NCYC.
I cannot recommend NCYC enough – it’s the most amazing time you can have as a Catholic teen!
For more information on keynote speakers, workshops, etc., go to http://www.ncyc.info/
We will get together once or twice before the trip, so we are well-prepared! And so we can get to know each other as well as our chaperones and the St. Isidore teens.
Our flights: We leave on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from the San Francisco airport. And just so we are clear, yes, this means you will miss three days of school.
We return on Sunday, Nov. 24, we will be back home by noon!
THE COST: We charge $500 per teen for the NCYC trip. The actual cost to us is about $1500, so all teens must participate in our fundraising activities! Teens will also need money for food on our travel days (Wednesday and Sunday), plus for souvenirs.
SOUNDS AWESOME! HOW DO I SIGN UP/RESERVE MY SPOT? Have your parents fill out and sign the permission slip (more paperwork from NCYC will be due later, but we’ll get to that later!), and return it with a deposit of $200 NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, AUGUST 20! Yes, we need to know that soon to lock in our plane flights. YOUR SPOT AND YOUR PAYMENT IS TRANSFERABLE BUT NOT REFUNDABLE. After August 20, everything is locked in – our airline tickets, hotel rooms, etc. If you drop out, we can’t get our money back, so you would have to find another SALT member to take your place. Just letting you know!
