Habitat for Humanity

St. Joan of Arc parishioners and friends continue to be active volunteers and supporters of the East Bay Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Our monthly group build days have attracted 7 to 13 volunteers each month including many "regulars". In the past several months we have worked on an 8-home project in Alameda, the Edes Avenue project in East oakland which will eventually total 54 homes and a single home rehab in Bay Point. In every case St. joan's volunteers are enabling deserving low income families to achieve their dream of home ownership.
The following are the scheduled build days for the remainder of 2008:

Work dates:

Saturday, October 4
Saturday, November1
Saturday, December 6

We hope to have approximately 10-12 volunteers on each day.

Experience? No experience or special skill is necessary. Men and women over 18 are also welcome when accompanied by a parent.
Where to meet? We meet at the church at 7:40 am and carpool to the work site. No personal tools are necessary and lunch is often provided.
Other ways to help - For those who are not able to participate in the construction, we are also soliciting individuals, families or groups who can volunteer to provide lunch for the workers.

.

The work day runs from
8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
